i went to court with a buddy of mine today

check this [censored] out

15 mexicans in court for DWI's

3 with no accident got $100 fine and told to go

12 with accidents got a $250 fine and told to go

i know the prosectuor why that was all they got and was told its because they have no license so they cant be punished the same as somebody who does

but he then said that their names would be put into the computer the "reciprocating states" use and they wouldnt ever be allowed to get one......they can however go to one of the few states that doesnt participate in that and still get one

yet i dot a DWI 3 years ago and lost my license 7 months and paid out close to 6k in fines

yet some dickball who doesnt have a green card let alone a license to drive a car gets a few hundred in fines and walks out?

if im in my own car not wearing a seatbelt cant hurt anybody else so why am i forced to pay a fine if i dont wear one?

I with you on all of that. The local judiciary system exists only to make a few good ol' boys rich. Every time I hear these cops on tv saying that they enforce laws to save lives, I want to throw my lunch. It's all a money racket.

ill tell you why

first.....i find them uncomfortable as hell

secondly......ive been in 3 accidents in my life

1. a friend of mine was driving i was in the passenger seat......my door got hit by some [censored] who ran a red light

my buddy was wearing a seatbelt and it broke his sternum and 2 ribs......i wasnt and only had a cut on my leg from glass

2. my friend was driving and we got hit from behind......he was wearing one and wound up with whiplash and a concussion.....i wasnt and walked away with a sprained wrist

3. i rolled a dodge durango down a 95 onramp 3 times in fla......i wasnt wearing a seatbelt and only had a bruise on my thigh from it hitting the steering wheel

so im convinced they do more harm than good 90% of the time

thirdly.......it should be my choice.....if this country truly is about "freedom".......i should be able to choose to not wear one if i want

am i hurting anybody else by choosing to not wear one? NO

since im not hurting anybody else......its BS that i cant make the choice not to

I wonder if there is any proof out there that not wearing your seat belt is actually safer than wearing one at all times?

Not as if the governments would be too happy about any of this being published or "proven," but I wonder what the truths are behind the risks as to not wearing one versus the 'unknown' risks as to actually wearing one and therefore being considered 'safer' when it comes to accidents.

Not saying that anyone here is wrong or right by the way. I tried Googling up some stuff but didn't come up with a whole lot. I personally wear mine at all times but that's because it's what I was taught as I was growing up and something that has become habit more than anything else.

Anyone have any more info on this topic?

I think all DWI offenders should be fined completely out the ass and have their license taken away for 12-16 months

Sure, there might be something else to it with the mexicans, but to Joe Taxpayer who can be stuck with the fines and all, it is a money racket.
